The fifth generation of performance sedans of the famous automobile manufacturer in Bavaria, the 2012 BMW M5 concept was officially unveiled about a year and a half ago, at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show.

2012 BMW M5 concept is powered by a 4.4 liter V8 engine optimized with M TwinPower Turbo package, which means that benefits of the Twin Scroll Twin Turbo technology, a cross-bank exhaust and a direct fuel injection of high precision, plus a Valvetronic valve control.

Furthermore, thanks to this engine, the new 2012 M5 boosts 560 horsepower (412 kW) between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm and a torque of 680 Nm at 1,500 rpm, and even if it has two turbines, the BMW engineers said that the response of this running train does not suffer from any delay. In addition, the 2012 BMW M5 concept accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.4 seconds or 13 seconds from 0 to 200 km / h and reaches a top speed of 250 km / h or 305 km / h when the car comes equipped with the M Driver Package set.

As if these performances were not enough, the BMW engineers have managed to turn the engine under the hood of the new 2012 BMW M5 in a Euro 5 engine, so the fuel consumption is around 9.9 liters per 100 km with CO2 value emissions of 232 grams / km. These impressive values have been obtained thanks to the Start Stop and Brake Energy Recuperation systems that benefit the standard new BMW M5.

Also, besides the 7-speed Dual Clutch transmission that sends power to the rear via a multi-plate differential with limited slip, the new M5 has flaps behind the steering wheel for the gear shift, plus the Launch Control and Low Speed Assistance systems.

As for the interior of the new supercar, the materials are still of high-quality, there are aluminum inserts, the seats are extremely comfortable, but with a perfect lateral support and the leather fabric, which is also on the dashboard reminds us that we are into the premium segment. The interior space is sufficient even for five passengers, and the trunk has 520 liters capacity.

According to the BMW team, the 2012 BMW M5 concept has a weight / power ratio of 3.3 kg / horsepower, which comes as a confirmation of the performance that this new supercar can offer.
